Tap the grown-ups button on the main screen and answer the math question by typing the number. Everything meant for adults lives there: settings, the bin with recently deleted songs, and sharing. The gate is intentionally hard for a small child to pass by guessing.

Check three things in this order: the ringer switch on the side of the device, the volume buttons, and whether headphones or a Bluetooth speaker are still connected from earlier. Bandaloo plays through the speaker even when the ringer switch is silenced, and it does not stop your music or podcast in other apps — if you hear neither, the volume is likely the cause.

Sending lives in the grown-ups area, so a child cannot do it by accident. Save the song first (the star button), then tap the grown-ups button, answer the math question, and look for Send a song. Tap the song's name and the standard iOS share sheet opens — choose Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Files, or anything else on your device. The song is turned into an ordinary .m4a audio file that plays anywhere, with all the layers your child recorded, and with the drum beat underneath if the beat is switched on in the app. Nothing is uploaded anywhere: the file goes only where you send it.

No. Every pad is tuned to a scale where notes cannot clash, and recorded taps are nudged onto the beat, so layers stay together. Whatever your child plays will sound like music.

It is not gone. Deleted songs go to the bin in the grown-ups area and stay there for 30 days, where they can be restored.

Songs are stored inside the app on the device, and they are part of your normal device backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup). Restoring a backup onto a new device brings the songs along. Deleting the app deletes them.

Yes, always. Bandaloo makes no network connections at all.

Never. When your child records, the app saves only the timing of taps on the screen — not sound from the room. There is no microphone permission in the app.

No ads, no data collection, no subscriptions.

Use Guided Access, an iOS feature: Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access. Turn it on, open Bandaloo, then triple-click the side button to lock the device to this app.

Younger children usually enjoy free play with the pads; older ones get more out of layering several instruments into one song. Nothing in the app punishes, times, or scores your child, so there is no wrong way to use it.
