CountryBalls is a sticker pack for Apple Messages. It has twelve stickers of the Poland ball, drawn in the countryball comic style: a round ball, white over red, with two big white eyes. It is free, with no ads, no accounts and no network connections.

If something is unclear or not working, write to me at [email protected]. I make the pack on my own, so I am the one who answers.

Finding and sending

I installed it and cannot find the app. Where is it?

In Messages. CountryBalls is a sticker pack, and a sticker pack has no Home Screen app of its own to open, so there is no icon on the Home Screen to look for. Open any conversation in Messages and look through your stickers and iMessage apps. The pack appears there once it is installed.

In that list it goes by its App Store name, CountryBalls - PL.

The pack does not show up in Messages. What should I check?

Check three things, in this order:

  • Is it switched on? Each iMessage app can be switched on or off in a list of your iMessage apps. Apple has moved that list between iOS versions: look for the option to manage or edit your iMessage apps in Messages itself, or in the Messages part of Settings. Make sure CountryBalls - PL is on.
  • Restart Messages. Close it completely and open it again. If that changes nothing, restart the device.
  • Check the system version. The pack needs iOS or iPadOS 16.4 or later.

If it is still missing after that, write to me.

How do I send a sticker?

Open a conversation in Messages, find CountryBalls among your stickers and iMessage apps and tap a sticker. Then send it like any other message. The person on the other end does not need to have the pack installed.

How do I put a sticker on top of a message or a photo?

Touch and hold the sticker, drag it out of the pack and onto a message bubble or a photo in the conversation, then let go. It stays where you dropped it.

The stickers have a transparent background, so only the drawing lands on the message, with no background behind it.

Can people on Android, or without iMessage, see the stickers?

Yes. Outside iMessage a sticker is sent as an ordinary image, so the other person gets it as a picture. Placing a sticker on top of a message is an iMessage feature, so do not count on that part looking the same on their side.

The pack

Which stickers are included?

Twelve, all of one character: the Poland ball, with a white upper half, a red lower half, a black outline and a shadow under it. It has two big white eyes and nothing else — no arms, no legs, no mouth — so the mood comes from the eyes and the props.

  • a thought bubble with “???”
  • “#1”
  • “Are you serious?”
  • the ball in black sunglasses
  • the ball in red-and-blue 3D glasses
  • “Happy birthday”, with a party hat
  • “Like a boss”, with pixel sunglasses and black lettering
  • “Like a boss”, with sunglasses and red lettering
  • “Love you”, with a heart
  • “Make love, don’t fight”
  • “Well...”
  • “What?”, with the sunglasses slipping

All twelve are static images.

What language are the captions in?

English. The ball is Poland, but the words are English, in blocky pixel-style lettering, red or black. Two stickers have no caption: the ball in black sunglasses and the ball in 3D glasses.

Is it free?

Yes. CountryBalls is free on the App Store and has no advertising. It is a 4.2 MB download.

Privacy and removal

Does it collect data or need the internet?

No to both. The pack contains static image assets and nothing else: no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs and no network connections. The images ship inside the pack, so nothing is fetched when you open it.

Sending is handled by Apple’s Messages, so a sticker needs a connection only in the way every message does. I never see your conversations or the stickers you send. The privacy policy has the full text.

How do I remove it?

Delete it like any iMessage app. Open the place where you manage your iMessage apps and remove CountryBalls - PL there. Depending on the iOS version, that place is in Messages itself or in the Messages part of Settings. You can also remove the pack from the device in Settings, in the list of installed apps under storage. Apple renames these screens from time to time, so I describe them rather than name them.

The pack keeps no data, so there is nothing else to clean up.

Reporting a problem

If a sticker does not send, looks wrong, or the pack disappears from Messages, write to me at [email protected] and include:

  • the device, for example iPhone 13 or iPad (9th generation);
  • the iOS or iPadOS version — it is in Settings → General → About;
  • what happened: what you tapped, what you expected and what you saw instead. A screenshot helps, as long as it shows nothing private.

The pack sends me no diagnostics of any kind, so your description is all I have to work with. Details help.
