Privacy Policy
JaySnake for macOS · Last updated: 5 July 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to JaySnake, a macOS application ("the App") — a developer tool for viewing, formatting, querying, comparing and converting JSON documents.
Information We Collect
The App does not collect, store on our servers, or transmit any personal information or usage data. We have no servers.
All operations — parsing and formatting JSON, tree navigation, JSONPath queries, diffing documents, type inference, code generation and format conversion — run entirely on your Mac. Your documents never leave your device.
Data Stored on Your Device
To restore your work between launches, the App keeps data locally on your Mac only:
- Open tabs and their contents (your JSON documents), saved in the App's folder inside Application Support
- Interface preferences (such as sidebar visibility), saved in the standard macOS preferences store
This data stays on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and is removed when you delete the App and its data.
macOS Services Integration
The App offers an optional "Open in JaySnake" entry in the macOS Services menu. When you invoke it, macOS passes the text you selected to the App, which opens it in a new tab. This happens entirely on your device; the selected text is not sent anywhere. The Service is opt-in and controlled by you in System Settings.
Network Access
The App makes no network connections. It works fully offline.
Third Parties
The App does not include third-party SDKs, advertising networks, analytics, or tracking technologies of any kind.
Children's Privacy
The App is suitable for all ages and does not collect any personal information, including from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
